EXPECTATIONS
What to Expect with XMandarin Accommodation in China?
Bathrooms – In some shared apartments, showers don't have a separate enclosure, so the whole bathroom may get wet when showering. Western-style sitting toilets are standard in cities, though squat toilets can still be found in pubilic WC.
Mattresses – Beds in China usually have firmer mattresses than what many foreigners are used to. This is considered better for back support, but for those who prefer a softer bed, mattress toppers are affordable and easy to purchase locally.
Rent and Fees – Rental payment terms vary. Some accommodations allow monthly payments, while others may require several months’ rent upfront. In some cases, real estate agents may also charge an agency fee.
Shared Accommodation – Students in shared housing are not separated by gender, nationality, or age. Cleaning service is generally not provided in the communal areas or own bedroom.
Laundry – Personal washing machines are common in China, but some places may not have a dryer. Instead, people often use a drying rack indoors or hang clothes on a clothesline outside, especially in the warmer months.
Bedding - only hotels and a few serviced apartments offer bedding, but XMandarin could help you to purchase sheets, pillows, and a blanket in China or some students prefer to bring their own when traveling to China.
